2-5-7-10 box - First attempt

Normally the SU demo team I am part of makes different boxes - we normally score every line at 2.75 inches, but thought I'd have a go with this box. I followed the tutorial on Split Coast Stampers which per usual was easy to follow. Next time I'll chop a bit off the end of the card stock to resemble the American size better, as it was a bit too much left inside the inner flap. I also removed the guard from my corner rounder to do the scalloped edge. I still can't believe that SU! are retiring this punch as it's such great value at $15.95 & has the 2 functions. If you want to see how to use the punch for a scalloped edge CLICK here.

The American Card stock size is 8.5 x 11 inches & our card stock is an A4 size which is approx. 8.25 x 11.75 inches.

Card stock: Certainly Celery, Very Vanilla, Cranberry Crisp
Inks: Certainly Celery, Cranberry Crisp, Apricot Appeal
Stamps: Bud Basics & Basic Outline jumbo wheel (both in the summer mini catalogue)
Accessories: Cranberry Crisp stitched ribbon, corner rounder and 3mm hand held circle punch
Adhesive: Snail & Sticky Strip

Lavender Lace Bag-a-Lope

Monday night was my first training of my downline - yes I have recruits & a downline now (thank you SU! & SAB) who made it all too unresistable.

So a big welcome to the SU! family for Tracey, Clare & Donna.

One of the great things about this company is that the person who signed you up theoretically is responsible for their recruit's training & guidance. So hopefully I can inspire just a wee bit and share my love of paper crafting with the girls; if so that will be awesome.

So after a run down on the demo website on the PC; especially where to find templates, patterns etc. We were allowed to play. I had thought I'd do a re-run of the bag-a-lope technique & copied the concept I'd done for Jax's birthday treats as I had embossed the flower & thought yah we can cover 2-techniques in one session here!

I think it was a successful night for the Braeburn Paperkrafters as pretty much anything went & lots of creativity occurred.

This was my original concept but the troops final projects slightly resembled mine (most were better I have to say) - go team!!

Wow Judy found a great video clip on how to use a stamp-a- ma-jig

What a find - I want one !!!!! Click here to view. In case you all think I'm going mad a stamp-a-ma-jig is a stamp alignment tool & not the dance I do when it all goes horribly wrong.

March Class Schedule up now

I have 2 classes planned so click HERE to preview - do RSVP ME by e-mail if coming; with at least 48 hours notice so I can prepare the kits. Classes are limited to 8 attendees.

An official scrapbook class

Finally a night at home what bliss (even though the wind is howling & summer seems to have turned into autumn overnight). I've had rather a hectic week to put it mildly & have had to drink copious quantities of coffee to keep me awake.

So catch up time with me, mid January the Braeburn Paperkrafters (that's Judy, Joan & moi) went to an official scrapbook class at NZ Scrapbook being run by Jamie Waters who was out here from the USA. The theme of the night was stickers! and like most scrap-bookers I have too many stickers (& designer paper).

The best thing of the night apart from a night out with the girls was that I achieved 3 pages easily which is also a bonus.

The blue page is some of those nieces & nephews (again) Christmas 2005. The natural page was my niece Poppy & myself on a bridge over the Avon River last year & last but not least the lime green one (& in case you didn't know lime green is my favourite colour - YES that's me with the colourful bonnet so my friends can find me in the crowds). Just a few of my girlfriends & myself at the Devonport Wine & Food festival - also 2006.

Yes I am behind with my pages!! NOTE to self - do better this year!

Summer at the beach

I was waiting until after our Extravaganza event to post my first scrapbook page. I thought it was appropriate that I use a page that I helped design using stamps predominantly to embellish.

Tracy Marshall & myself volunteered for this project as we could really see the potential of using our stamps on our scrapbook pages too.

We used Shore Things which is in the current Summer Mini catalogue - when I first saw the catalogue I thought that set is perfect for scrapbooking (& it is). Even though I don't spend a lot of time at the beach in summertime I still do & it is an important part of a "kiwi summer" according to me. This set had a co-ordinating Stampin' Around wheel Flip Flops which we used as a page border.

SU! has great wheels - flowers, leaves, butterflies, shells, presents, paw prints (says me with a smile), babies etc etc- currently 45 available. Standard size wheels are $13.95 & jumbo ones $18.75. They can be used to decorate boxes & wrapping paper as well; really versatile.

I loved the alphabet sets we used for this project too: Tidy Alphabet and Best Friends Alphabet.

The project was to design two 6x6" scrapbook pages but do it as a card. We envisaged the front of the card would be the title page & inside of the card as the "scrap book page". I loved the water mark effect that Versamark ink gave for the waves on the front of the project & the sand & shells on the inside mat for the photo (to be placed).

Card stock: Ballet Blue, Real Red, Marigold Morning, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Ink: as above plus Versamark & Chocolate Chip (at the beach)
Accessories: 35mm & 32mm square punches, 13mm circle punch, 2mm hand held punch, 2-way glue pen with Dazzling Diamonds glitter, linen thread, mat pack (for faux stitching) with uniball Signo white gel pen & of course Snail adhesive.

Per usual the project looks better in real life but I hope you agree with me that it's rather groovey :-)

Check out my friend Judy's blog who was an attendee to see the projects done on the day.

A belated Happy Valentine's Day

Who would ever have thought a cardboard box from the $2 shop could look so beautiful! This was a tough one to give away but I filled it with Rose's Chocolates - the expression of joy on Pete's face was worth the pain (& if I'm lucky he may return it to me when it's empty - one can but hope. But he did look like he thought it was the nicest thing I'd ever given him so maybe not).

I received in return a lovely meal at Zigilini's - Scallop & Lemon risotto with a couple of glasses of Allan Scott Riesling on the side - so I was pretty happy too. I make a pretty impressive lemon & basil risotto (even if I do so myself but it was lovely with the scallops added to it).

The box was created in Card Class this week. Jacque our fantastic teacher & my up line was wondering why so much blue paper used but then clicked we were making them for our men not a Friend. We used Loves Me double dipped designer paper for the top of the heart & sides of the box. I then used Cool Carribean card stock & stamped various hearts from the Love Matters and Sweet On You stampsets with Chocolate Chip ink. Finished it off with chocolate grosgrain ribbon. Both the designer paper, the stampset & the wider ribbon are available in the Summer Mini catalogue until March 31st.

I hope the heart box bought as much joy to the receiver as mine did.
Happy HEART day to all xxx

Triangle Box

Waitangi day here & another stunning day - sunny & not too hot, saying that I was totally on blob mode & achieved very little. Only been back in the real working world 2 days & was still on holiday mode (that's my excuse anyhow).

Did finish packing up my 40 kits for Saturday's Extravaganza & Tracy M. who has also been working with me completed hers so OUR project is ready - bring it on as the saying goes.

The only other major task "we" had to contribute a door prize per team. I volunteered to make a lovely Triangle Box as per 'Anabel' & have filled it with chocs & a few wee stamps to be won by some lucky attendee.

Can't believe there is not an online tutorial for making a Triangle Box so will make have to make you one SO WATCH THIS SPACE!

I've used Pool Party designer paper, Tidy Alphabet & wait for it ........ Friendship Blooms :-)

The great thing about SU! designer papers are that the colours in the paper match the ink pads. So Pool Party colour combos are Sage Shadow, Brocade Blue & Garden Green, which I have used & they do look GREAT together.

As the saying goes "life is a gift unwrap it" I hope the lucky recipient of this gift enjoys unwrapping it.
