The last of The Christmas Mail

I couldn't believe it when I got home from work on Christmas Eve I could see very vanilla envelopes amongst the other mail. Big sigh of relief as apart from my lovely SBS sister Sharon all had received a card from me. So this should be the last of the Christmas cards for 2008 - which is sad but nice to look forward to other things as we head into a new year. So big drum roll here they are:

From one of my oldest & bestest friends Donna:

From Racheal AKA Knightstamper

From my SBS sister Sharon AKA Stampin' and Scrapping Blog

and last but not least Anne's amazing card - I'd love to know where she got that house punch - it's gorgeous & what a lot of work.

Thank you all they're gorgeous.

Crazy for Christmas

Such a great name for a stamp set & little did I know that this was going to be my set for creating my cards when SU! offered it at 20% off but I just loved it & I'm really pleased how they turned out. I made 2 cards using the set (kinda got bored with embossing after awhile but had so many positive comments about the first one maybe I should have stayed being bored!)

Stamp set: Crazy for Christmas, Occasional Greetings
Ink: Versamark, Silver Encore, Sage Shadow for sponging
Card stock: Sage Shadow, Always Artichoke, Whisper White, Wintergreen DSP
Other: Silver EP, dimensionals, markers (Certainly Celery, Sage Shadow, Always Artichoke), dazzling diamonds glitter, sponge dauber, Stamp-a-ma jig

Cutting dimensions:
Whisper white: 1-1/2 x 4-3/8"
DSP: 1-3/4 x 4-5/8" and 1-3/4 x 3-1/2:
Always Artichoke: 2 x 4-7/8" and 2 x 3-3/4"

The second card is straight from the SU! demo website & I really loved colouring the pressies up.
Stamp set: Crazy for Christmas, Sleigh Full of Toys or Itty Bitty backgrounds
Ink: Basic Black, Ruby Red, Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue
Card stock: Ruby Red, Wild Wasabi, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Other: Wild Wasabi DS ribbon, mini glue dots, blender pen, Stamp-a-ma jig

Cutting dimensions:
Whisper White: 10.5 x 3 cm
Ruby Red: 14.8 x 3 cm

A really easy card but very effective, well I do hope to my friends that received one of the above & to ALL a very merry Christmas - may it be a special time spent with those you love.

Peaceful Candles

My friend Wendy asked me to create her a few stamped candles for Christmas. I normally use Lovely As A Tree but for a change I've used Peaceful Wishes - I hope she's happy with them - I think they look Christmasy! And don't they look lovely once wrapped up in cello with some ribbons & a tag.

Stamp set: Peaceful Wishes
Ink: Cranberry Crisp (retired), Always Artichoke, Close to Cocoa, Gold (Versacolor)
Card stock (for tags): Whisper White & Brushed Metallics (gold)
Other: 1-1/4" & 1-3/8" circle punches, gold cord (retired), gold organza (retired), Cranberry Crisp ribbon (retired)
Technique: Stamping on Candles

Take one tin

I've been collecting the empty coffee tins at work for awhile (best form of recycling) & our cleaner Mary thinks I'm mad (she could be right) - so I thought I'd decorate one & fill it with some goodies as she is my work's Christmas fairy - every year she decorates our tea room & reception areas with Christmas trees & lights etc & certainly makes it a much cheerier place to be.

I've used Wintergreen DSP - just love these colours & a few tags & ribbons - very simple but effective.

So I hope Mary enjoys her "recycled coffee tin".

A special delivery

One of the greatest things about blogging (apart from the lovely comments) is actually chatting to people from around NZ & the world - Vanya from my SBS sisterhood lives in Serbia - wow! Bloggers are so kind & generous, it's a lot of fun, so if you're been thinking about it, sign up for one in the new year. Blogger makes it easy for you/us & it's FREE!

One of the lovely bloggers from NZ is Louise Forysth AKA Louise? yeah that's me fame - so if you haven't checked out her blog pop in & say hi. She's sent me this absolutely gorgeous card with felt stars & it's so bright & colourful it's amazing & the wee girl & owl are adorable - I love it! Thank you!!!!

Casing Clara - SBS Challenge

Whoever would have thought that it would be a week before I could return to the latest challenge.

As time is of the essence now I'm choosing cards to case that I have a pretty good case in my card box. I'm still going to work my way up from the bottom of the list so for no. 2 it's Clara's turn - not sure why she's MIA but hopefully she comes back soon as she is a very talented stamper. This is HER CARD I have chosen to case & this is mine taught to me by the very fabulous Anabel Welch from my team who is also been missing lately. If you click on the link for Buckle Cards you will see where Anabel got her inspiration from, but a great colour combo.

I do hope the missing 2-some are both well!

Stamp set: Bud Basics, Warmest Regards
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore
Card stock: Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Whisper White
Other: Word window punch, chocolate & turquoise grosgrain ribbon
Technique: Buckle Card

A coaster box pressie for ME :-)

Wow looked what I received from my upline Jacque AKA Stamp Happy at The Creative Inkers team Christmas breakfast.

We had a superb time complete with food (always very important in my eyes) plus it was great to catch up with the team that could make it. I'm sure she'll have some cool pictures on her blog later of the day & all the boxes & bags she made for her downline. Yep here they ARE.

My downline reading this - I'll do better next year and you'll get Jacque's gift to you too (ahh the best of both worlds).

Looking at the superb job she made of all the boxes & I maybe biased but the designer series paper in the Summer mini are the scrummiest I think it may definitely be time to schedule another coaster box class at my place. The last one was a huge hit.

Thank you Jacque I love it & will unwrap it & use it! xoxo

I have more mail

Touch wood mine has all been posted away (hope I haven't forgotten anyone). Some more lovely hand made cards to share & ooh over with me.

From Clare (again) - I really like this (love Wild Wasabi for starters) & it team's up with Purely Pomegranate beautifully.

From Elva - love the little add-on reminds me of wee tassels on a kilt but great colours for Christmas & lots of glitter! Think she's been talking to Joan.

From Judy AKA Cards, Scrapbooking & Musings Blog so stunning & inspirational with all the beautiful gold embossing & a real ornament to hang on the tree!

and last but certainly not least for today from Pauline McCardle in Napier.

This dazzles (just like the old chook herself!) with a metallic red scallop, gold star & metallic green circle - what a cool idea & Dashing DSP & Real Red CS - winners!!

Thanks girls just a few more to share with you. Almost too scared to show you mine as everyone is so clever.

Who's been casing the Summer Mini?

Clare has! Isn't this a sweet wee box?

She's used the crayon resist technique on the large flower - looks great in real life.

What a long week!!!

Finally have my PC back & running after 3 goes - so a huge thank you to my friend Paul who's knowledge of all things computer is scary. Be back later with a few things I've been up to in my absence.

Ciao for now Karen

Casing Theresa - SBS Challenge

Well the last challenge for the year is to case one of our sisters. I'm going to try & do the lot as we have 3 weeks to do it in!

I thought I'd start off with the SBS sister MIA Theresa AKA Embracing Me! - she only has 1 card on her blog to case & it's a snowman - we don't have snowman stamps - I think SU! thinks it's too hot down under but in our Spring Mini we had a really cutie as part of the Christmas Tags For All set & the very talented Debbie from WOW paperKRafters made this absolutely sweet little card with it when she borrowed my set which I will share.

Therea's card can be seen HERE

And this is Debbie's very merry snowmen - ohh ain't they sweet!

Only 18 more to go.....

Debbie does Christmas

Debbie Lamb is the newest member of my team WOW paperKRafters (WOW = WOW & WOW = Way Out West) as most of us live in West Auckland & Debbie is no exception living in West Harbour.

She's been really KReative lately looking at this month's stamp sets on special especially Crazy for Christmas & Snow Flurries. Both are extra great value with the 20% off.

I just think this first one is such a great idea - a card plus FOOD!

Should you want to order any of these stamp sets contact Debbie HERE or myself HERE.

SBS Challenge 9

Janet's latest challenge was to use up scraps - well all these goodies came from a small plastic tray I have on my desk. Normally my niece Michaela inherits these as she can definitely turn dross into gold.

This card was so easy to throw together - I love it thanks Janet - you certainly do rock!

Janet's entry can be found by clicking HERE - it's really adorable.

More 6x6" layouts

As promised here are a few more swaps I received at our recent team get together.

From Debbie Lamb, West Harbour

From Anne Marie Cox, Browns Bay AKA Stamping Galore

From Leanne Masters, Hamilton

Thanks girls they were all inspirational!

Embrace Life PURRfectly

This is one of the many 6x6" layouts I'll be sharing with you from the recent demo swap I took part in. One of my team Patrice has just started her blog Create With Stamps - you'll find a link in my inspirational sites or you can click HERE - please leave her a message to say you popped in - she'll be really chuffed. Aren't her wee babies gorgeous!!

I've got mail

There is just something magical about receiving mail - especially when it's not a BILL!! Here's a few snapshots of my first lot of Christmas cards received.

From Joan (Season of Joy)

From Jeanetta (Keep Christmas)

From Sue M - a really cool embroidered card - not sure why but white doesn't photograph very well.

And last but not least from my lovely blogging sister Janet - all the way from Canada - not just a gorgeous gold embossed angel but some other goodies too!!! Lucky me :-)
